Why Short Term Missions?

The benefit of a youth group, or a small mission group, coming down to serve in Mexico is two fold. The people in Mexico get very excited about receiving the message that any foreigner brings to them. People flock in and give a lot of attention to what the people have to say. Secondly, the visiting group has an opportunity to share the gospel and have an opportunity to impact lives, have an opportunity to see God work through them, and to experience what God wants to do through them. It causes growth in the people that come and also causes growth in the people here in Mexico. It helps both groups. Everyone grows and everyone is benefited.

Kinds of Short Term Missions

Hope for Mexico Missions hosts a variety of mission experiences to match the needs and abilities of the groups coming down. Some groups focus on outreach using drama or songs. Other groups prefer to concentrate on using their abilities in the area of small or large construction projects. And some groups do a little of both. Each group serves the Lord and His Church in their own unique way.

Just for Fun

Other things that youth groups can do while they are visiting include boat rides with some wave jumping, or treasure hunts on the beach and hikes through the sand dunes. Trips to Guasave, the main city, to buy some souvenirs is also a possibility. Fishing trips with local fishermen normally provide plenty of fish for a good supper. And they can experience how the fishermen fished on the Sea of Galilee. Or if you like, take a scenic train tour through the nearby Copper Canyon.
